History of Graphic Design

Postmodern

1970’s-1980’s

During the Postmodern time period many young designers challenged the laws of modernism and began to violate grid patterns, invert expected forms, explore decorative and historical elements, and included subjectivity. April Greiman, a famous artist during this time period, was acclaimed for her postmodernist experimentation. Her dynamic typographic innovations and colorful montages were made in collaborations with that application of video montages and imagery to print graphics.
